thanks

Chris

big gav

Remove the racking and one in forwards the other backed in should be ok . As long as its long enough....

Dom1

10ft x 6ft 6"

say 2.5m x 1.95.

Would have thought that was easily big enough, I get two bikes and kit in my swb T5 Transporter which according to google has a load space of 2.57 x 1.69 at its longest/widest.

cheers for quick response guys - do you think it would be ok weight wise too?

Dom1

No idea I'm afraid.

Also just noticed the inboard wheel arches that you would need to work round.

Does it have tie down points?

Looking at the pictures the axle is a long way back and the bikes will be hard up against the front wall of the trailer meaning most of the weight is ahead of the axle, I reckon you could run into issues with the nose weight of the trailer when loaded, most set ups are no more than 75kg but I can't see you getting anywhere close to that. May be wrong but worth considering.

I used a proper box trailer for the last ninjafest for 2 bikes (ZX10 and 6RR) because i wanted something covered as we had a hotel overnight. It was a pain in the arse. It towed well but was a twin axle that was central rather than like the one in the ebay add so nose weight was low

I had to put one in forwards and one backwards. There were no inboard wheel arches to get around either

Personally i wouldnt use one again for the above reasons. Lack of decent tie down points too

If it were me, i'd buy a decent 2 bike trailer and fabricate (/get made) something to house the genny on the A-frame at the front.

This nose weight issue was in my thoughts as well. Fully laden, and you could end up with real stability issues at speed. If you want space for 2 bikes which you don't want to seriously have to modify, who not just get a horse trailer and put in your own anchor points. It won't lose you any serious money when you need to sell it on, and as they have steel frames, you can fabricate some reasonable security to keep prying eyes out. Similar to my own trailer, and the bikes can be ridden in and out with the ramps. I have central anchor points for tie downs to go over the seat (U-clamps), and then cable tie the front brake on and lock the back wheel in gear when in transit (like the car ferries). Plenty of space for kit in front of the bikes as well.

One in Manc for £800

I bet that weighs a ton...

Close mine is 900kg 2 track prepped bikes and a genny are realistically going to be 450-500kg IMO.
You need a substantial trailer to put that sort of weight in it.

Would need a towing test to drag any trailer with 2 bikes either way..The Ex BT trailer is going to be 500-600kg.

Chrisninja

I gave that one a miss and am now keeping an eye out for a more suitable ifor williams or something - they fetch good money but I think its best option for weight and handling with 2 bikes and all the gear in.

let me know if anyone has one for sale!

Are you looking for an Ifor williams horse trailer, livestock trailer or flatbed trailer ?

The advantage of horse or livestock trailers is that the contents are invisible from prying eyes, you can put a blow up bed in them or a hammock and they can double up as somewhere free and private to sleep and change (stick a chemical loo in there as well if you feel inclined)

Twin axle is the most stable of trailers by a country mile. Mine is an old Ifor williams one (pre HB505) has a plated weight of 2800kg, and I've regularly had 1100kg of horses in it and never a stability issue. I bought it about 10 years ago for £900, it is still worth about £700 even with another 10 years wear and tear....the down side is that they are quite knickable, so you would have to sort secure storage if you went down this route. You need a heavy enough car to tow one as well. I use a Shogun, but you could get away with a Volvo estate or similar (the car needs to realistically be at least as heavy as the trailer and its contents combined)

My B1 went on the weighbridge a couple of days ago, and it came in at 180kg wet so you can do the maths

chers for he advice Ash - you are right about the ifor williams trailers holding their money - been watching a few on eaby and they are fetching decent cash!
