I'm planning on doing a spot of bike touring, staying at campsites in the UK.
It would be nice to "go to the pub" in the evening, but having not done any camping for many years I'm a little nervous about leaving a load of expensive leathers, lid etc in a tent.

Any thoughts?

(FWIW I can't justify the cost of a hard luggage, and certainly nothing big enough to to take lid and leathers.)

I did something similar the year before last but didn't bother with a tent and stayed in a camping pod instead

The price will vary a lot depending on where you stay but if I remember rightly, it was around £30 a night in the spot I stayed in. They had a lockable door and with some jiggery pokery you could leave with the blind covering the door so no one could see in. Also had some mains electric so you could charge things up.

In my experience both motorcycling and camping are two of the only pursuits left in this Country that are still sanctuaries of decency. I wouldn't be overly concerned about theft on the sort of holiday you are planning. Chances of getting something pinched are slim and none i'd suggest.

A good strong cable threaded through helmet and leathers all shoved into a bin liner and locked to your bike is a better deterrent than just leaving them in the tent. But having said that if someone wants to nick them they will.  However, I've done a fair bit of what your planning around the UK and never had so much as a sock stolen.

Thanks all. Good to know I may be inordinately paranoid.
