Need to get a bike from Kent to North Wales.

I jut don't have the time or the trailer/van means to do it myself so the only option to purchase would be to pay someone else to do it.

Anyone on here used any companies recently they can recommend (or more importantly, avoid)?

Also, any Ninjas close to Tonbridge, Kent who might be able to view and confirm address / V5 etc for me?

I've used thebikemovers.co.uk before.

They are based in Nottingham, but arrange to collect bikes when dropping one off in the area of collection etc, so you don't incur extra travelling costs.

I bought a GSXR on ebay that was in Wales, he went and got it, rang me to confirm he had heard it start and run etc, confirmed all numbers on V5 matched etc too. He then drove from Wales to Kent to drop it off, stayed in contact during his drive to make sure I would be in when he arrived. Turned up with the bike, spares and all the paperwork that he made sure the owner had filled in correctly and charged me just £180.

Couldn't have made my life any easier, assuming its the same guy you wont be disappointed.

Tonbridge is a bit of a trek from mine, if you get really stuck I may be able to help you out

Thought you had the Horse trailer and 4x4 Moz ?

Horse trailer now gone as Mrs M uses the family box. No chance of using that.

Andy,

I called the bike movers this morning actually. Was it Karl you dealt with?? He said he "might" be able to help but was quoting about £240 to do the job. It's encouraging he sounds very good though. I've left my offer with the seller (a M6rk-esque effort) so he's thinking about it.

Anyone else close to Tonbridge?? I'm just after a quick condition viewing and confirmation he is who he says he is and that the V5, address and numbers all match up.

I'm not sure, was a few years ago. Checked my emails but I have nothing from them in there. I do remember that it was the guy that owned the company that I dealt with, if you can find that out, then it will be the same guy.

They quoted me a figure for the job, which I agreed to - only for him to charge me less. It was a significant reduction to the point I couldn't figure out, after fuel costs, how he made any money on that trip.

If its the same guy I wouldn't hesitate using his company again

I have a mate with his own bike courier business.

If you message me the collection and delivery postcodes and what bike it is i'll get you a quote.

If you pay expenses and pop me on the insurance I'll ride the bugger up for you if you like.

Although just looking at it you're probably looking at £100 in trains, £50 in fuel and £30 in insurance? Offer still stands but I am not sure if you can realistically do it cheaper than a courier would!

I'd love to see it Gilby but trust me, the engine would need a fairly massive overhaul and your arse wouldn't survive.

It's a KTM EXCF250

I think I've got the seller to agree to bring it to me for about the same money as a courier - result!

Ah, I see! probably have more luck trying to get it on the train with me!

On the plus side it should be rugged enough to withstand even the pikeiest of bike movers!

Brian

Let me know if you need it moved for you. I've got a mate who works for one of the big bike moving companies, and he has the van at the weekend, along with free diesel. He's told me he's happy to bring it to you on a weekend for a reasonable cash price.
If you can't be a good example, then you'll have to be a horrible warning.

MOzZereLLa

Thanks Brian.

I'll bear that in mind. I'm still hoping he'll bring it to me but it's not a simple situation.
