It's great that they're changing the way we pay for the Dartford tolls (taking away the tolls and introducing remote payment like the Congestion Charge) but I've got a suspicion that after a while they'll start charging bikes, because it's done on ANPR.

Anyone else thought that, or am I just being cynical?

I'm paying more to tax my B1 than many people pay to tax their cars now. It is just another revenue stream waiting to be tapped with the least effort.

It's not road tax Ash. Isn't the Dartford tunnel thing privately owned anyway like the Severn Bridges?

I said 'tax', not road tax. They can't have people claiming ownership of the network which they pay for can they Tim

There's a toll bridge I use everyday which is privately owned and run by the farmer who's land the road passes through.

They did say when it was announced that bikes would remain free on the basis that we don't cause congestion

I went over it the other day and almost got stuck as had no money and they do not take cards.........5 mins searching everywhere parked on the hardsholuder came up with the £2 needed

I had to pay the toll on my bike on the M^ tool road and the car drivers were going nuts as it was raining and getting my gloves on and off was not easy
