Performance, is it horribly peaky? Comfort? Handling?

Calling Green Ninja I guess!!

if you are going for one get a 2010 model, there were tweaks to the suspension and ECU (black fork legs). Peaky? not really maybe not the low down grunt of a big band R1 but good power with a real good rush at the top end :-). Handles great (way better then me) brakes fine, I happily did 300 to 400 miles days on it.

As you have issue with your hands on sportbikes I think you may struggle with it though.

If I could afford to I'd have another alongside the Street.

I test rode an 09 when I looked at the R1 etc and I found it rode smooth, handled very neutrally but (for me being 6ft 2) I felt like the front end was very low and like alot of weight was on my wrists. Exactly the same feeling as when I rode Wizzbangs B1 many years ago.

Carbon_ZX6R

I had one for 6 months and the ride felt similar to my b1h in regard to position not the most comfortable bike if your tall , power is plenty full handles like its on rails very good bike imo despite the shitty ohlins imposter damper

Had mine since new in 2009, had to sort the base setting out on the suspension to suit my weight, riding style since then it's been a dream to ride.

At 6'2" I found it uncomfortable for a while but learnt how to ride a sports bike a bit more like a sports bike should be ridden, I put very little weight through my wrists and never had a complaint about my arms, wrists hurting. It's actually smaller than my old 636A1P so if you got long arms and legs like me you will see elbow knee interface quite often

I have thought about moving on to a Gen 4 but can't see the point tbh except for the latest bling factor. Mine stands me in for. Very little buying it just before the prices went through the roof

I have had no issues with it apart from:

Loose wire on lighting circuit, fairing nuts, bolts coming loose including the clocks! Looked at adding a PC but I must be a lucky one I don't seem to have a glitch any where in the throttle range. Added Iridium plugs, K&N filter, good quality oils and regular filter changes and that's about it I 5 years of ownership... Fek me that went quick!

Servicing is easy including plugs, must changes are exhaust, tail tidy and the rest is personal IMO. Can it get lively, err yes! Had mine on track a few times now and no complaints at all aside from tyre wear issues as I have got quicker.

As said steering damper is shite, mines been on maximum since day one but ride it smooth and it pays back in kind. Ride like a loon and watch out.

When I test rode it I took a P8f out afterwards as I was not sure about jumping to a 10 at the time. The test ride on the P8f lasted until the next junction I turned round and went straight back the two just didn't compare IMO. A Bargain bike with huge bang for buck IMO I'd have another one no problem  :moto:

Thanks all. Looks like it's not going to be ideal for my wrists / hands.

I might test ride one. There are minters out there for £5k

My left wrist is flubbered, years agoo I hyperextended it playing sports and now it's a really weak joint and painful ligaments. Doesn't bother me in the slightest on the bike as I ride round it as mentioned.

Oh and the front will need softening up if it feels like it's going to tuck when cornering, that's what mine was like, when set up though feels so planted now.

GLW test ride, you never know.

5k give or take makes my 8kish purchase price with all the extras fitted in 2009 mean cost for me to own one has been around £600 a year plus running costs
