Howdy all

Someone I work with has a Honda Fireblade on an 07 plate he is considering selling on. Its an EU spec bike he had while in Oman but due to getting older he has barely ridden it. We are talking 600 miles here!

He's a decent chap so don't doubt the bike is legit but he is no mechanic. Bike has been stood for nearly 4 years collecting dust in his Garage.

I am sorely tempted as its a good price.

What should I look out for, guessing dodgy fuel and clogged injectors must be an obvious issue plus likely new battery but what else should I check?

Thanks Lewis

Has it been on its wheels or on stands?

Tyres may be a bit suspect if it has not been moved around.

Millhouse

fresh oil then plugs out and spin it over before trying to start it properly, get some new oil round inside it.
fresh fuel, new plugs, new coolant, new brake fluid, new tyres, grease in nipples for susp linkage.

basically a big service...

check the chain for tight links,  although it would be pretty obvious once you spin the wheel round..

Still in conversation, neither of us are in a rush.

I am going to check it out next week. It was drained of fuel before shipping so that's one less problem but hasn't been run for 2 years.

Its currently not registered in this country so am trying to get him to do all that before we strike the deal.
