have you put a new nylock nut on the rear axle?

*ducks for cover*

Honda use something called a U-nut for locking nut purposes, they are all over the bike and they work very well....unless you don't do them up enough...and that's a mistake I don't plan on replicating.

Is that still a rubber hose to the rear brake rather than braided steel?

Is that front wheel spindle tight?

Reminds me i really must uncover my gixxer and give that some loving soon.

Got the new oil cooiler through today, and as a bonus, the guy I bought it from chucked in the correct o-ring too.

Fitted it, along with a fresh oil filter, then oil.

Reassembled the exhaust, filled the cooling system and fired it up.

Everything goes well, bike starts to gain temperature (not too quickly either)....gets to 86'c and the thermostat opens, temp drops, everything normal.  Allow the temp to carry on rising, and on revving the engine there are NO bubbles going into the expansion bottle    but then I notice an increasing puddle growing on the floor.  Found out it's coming from the 'T' piece (on the right of the above pic)....turns out that I'd overtightened the jubilee clip and crushed the top end

My parts order to Honda has suitably been amended, and hopefully I should have a fixed bike once the parts arrive.

Managed to fashion a repair to the broken joint

The broken bit

found something ideal at work

1/2" pipe fits a treat

The pipe was then pushed in until flush and it was a perfect fit.  Installed into the bike this morning, filled the system and ran the bike.

In short....no leaks, no bubbles in the expansion bottle and responded well to a small amount of airflow over the rad when I nipped it up and down the road a couple of times (dropped 6'c)

So confident in it, that I haven't changed the repaired joint for the brand new part that turned up when I was finished.

Done a bit of tidying up and routing of cables, then put the fairings back on.

Apart from a bit of a clean and quick nut/bolt check, it's now ready to go to Rocky.

Well done Neil .. back to its former (maybe better now) glory :-)
