right got a bit of a starting problem I thought it was the starter  motor but now I'm not sure I replaced the battery that was in the bike with an identical item , ytx7-bs which is a 7ah battery and it manages to turn it over but it takes a while for it to fire , yet if you put a battery booster on it it fires (despite having to push the button 3 times) ive been told the battery listed for my model is a ytz10s-bs which is an 8.6ah battery do you think that its more than likely its not getting enough power and that's why it struggles to fire (starts no problem when hot)

Have you tried it with the correct battery for the bike?

I haven't , I'm not sure the one fitted is wrong as I have seen it listed for my model , but another battery is also listed and is more powerful

Well it looks like the other battery has a stronger current so that could affect the spark. I know on my KTM it's quite sensitive to valve clearances which affects the starting from cold

I'll have a check of the valve clearances , there is the best part of 2ah difference in the battery's so my moneys on that , just dont want to shell out mo money if its not the problem

I've had to read your first post 3 times to try to make sense of it.  The hardest part if trying to guess what your intending to say, but grammatically failing.

Anyway....

Just what is the issue you're having ??

Carbon_ZX6R

Turns over (if fully charged) eventually starts, starts first time with booster etc

Just learn to bump start it, you won't get stuck anywhere.

ive tried to kick it but it has none of it, ive been told there is a nack to it , I normally roll them down hills and just let the clutch go in 1st

ill order the new battery and chance it on sunday, hopefully the tom-tom wont be too much of a load for it

You would be much better of bump starting in 2nd rather then 1st, makes it easier and less likely to lock the back wheel.
