A question from the mechanically inept...

So this afternoon I dropped the oil from m'bike, new blood and new filter - Jobs a goodun'.

Or so I thought!

I torqued the oil filter cover bolts to spec using my torque wrench no problem, but didn't have the same luxury for the sump plug as I didn't have the relevant socket for it. I "nipped" it up using feel instead.

Fast forward to this evening, I suddenly remembered that I *do* have a 12mm socket that would fit my torque wrench so I set the torque wrench to the correct setting just to check... turns out I over-tightened the sump plug.

My question is: Do I back it off a bit and tighten it to spec? Or by doing this will it ruined the seal from the new crush washer and leak?

(EDIT: For what it's worth, I don't think I was too far over the 24nm required!)

Not FT just by feel tight enough.

Got any more oil or just drop it and pour it back in? That can't hurt surely?

Leave it.  Biggest risk is stripping the thread or more likely cracking the sump because its a piss weak, thin and typically poor quality Japanese casting.  If its a bit thht but neither of those things happened it will be fine.
