Sounds great!

Can definitely see myself owning a GS one day.

Everyone comes around to them in the end it seems.

I shall be picking up an Explorer in the next week or 2, my body is telling it's that time for it lol

PJ - Which model year Explorer are you going for?

Tuc - how goes the Tiger 800?

2016 mate, the XR base model but having heated grips, hand guards and a top box fitted :)

Fecking lovely that  the seats on those Explorers are by far the comfiest I've ever parked my arse on. The new 2016 models are big improvement on the previous years I hear too.

Any touring planned?

I test rode the previous model and my only complaints were the brakes were a bit "meh", which should now be sorted with the Brembo's. Other than that I bloody loved it!

None official but I definitely plan to do some miles on it!

It's a good bike.

But you can't do a lane at the weekend for fun on it in anything other than perfectly dry conditions without knobbly tyres, and those would ruin it for the motorway commute so would be a non-starter. If we lived in Spain with lots of gravel fire roads, would be a different proposition, but 90/10 road tyres on a heavy bike are totally hopeless in mud.

And ultimately it's not that exciting as a road bike, because it's not that powerful and (even though it's better in this respect than the XR) it's not got enough ground clearance, the right tyres, or the right sort of front end, to really handle.

I'm starting to wonder whether the fairly limited potential green lane ability was enough of a reason to go for it over a pure road bike, that would do everything except the laning better.

Still, it did the job of getting me to work all through the Winter in total comfort and reliability, so it's not bad by any means.

Just getting a little bored of it, perhaps, now the roads are dry.

Other problem is that this is my first year commuting to work every day on the bike. Much more miles on the bike and just getting bored of it for that reason, whereas for all previous years of my life, just getting on any bike and riding was enough of an occasion to be enjoyable.

Might have to get an H2 for the Summer just to wake myself up a bit on the M1.

Done what would have been three years miles in 8 months.

Considering the shit reason I found myself bikeless (in hindsight, a little bit of a reactionary sale) I finally took delivery of the replacement on Friday.

Managed a few miles yesterday and zero regrets. What a magnificent motorcycle - as I have read many times, possibly all the bike you'll ever need. All I've done is changed the end can (the Austin makes it sound a little gruffer and pops / crackles nicely on changes and overrun).

Alzo has his rainbow painted (a bit gay pride for my liking ;) ) der halter - ladies and gentlemen, in the spirit of its cutting edge tech, howling soundtrack and undoubted speed I give you (inspired by the ME262) the Sturmvogel.

Significantly faster than you.....

Nice :)
Make sure you set the sag. I did mine this week and did a 250 odd mile ride out yesterday and it has made it even better than it was. Wish I had done it sooner.

Oh I was out with a white one yesterday and the red ones are definitely faster ;)

MOzZereLLa

It I could have chosen a colour it would have been red, but this was the best one out there for price, spec etc (I wanted cruise for commuting).

Suspension felt very good so I might be lucky with the sag. I'll have a look at that soon but I'm a bit short on manpower to do it alone.

By all means bring your red one to Wales and we'll test the fast theory.
Significantly faster than you.....

The White rider must be shit...lol... ;)

Alzo

Great choice. I know you will enjoy it immensely....despite it being rather plain...I don't know how to post pictures on here anymore....so you're safe.
:moto:  ;)

The grey panels need changing.

They'll either be the MY16 black ones or some used carbon ones.
Significantly faster than you.....
