Got a micron can with the trumpet but its loud as fcuk, is it likely to quieten down much with repacking it?

If so, how much should I be looking at for a repacking kit?

Repacking kits are anything from a tenner to about twenty quid on the bay as you have probably already searched. Scorpion near me in ripley do a roll of packing with sewn edges so its not a bag of loose fibres (which is horrible to pack properly) for £15 a roll and it was more than enough to repack my akra from you matey.

Bought a pack of the loose stuff from Moore Speed Racing for my aprilia for about £12.

Call Mark Hill at MHP ... He'll give you some pointers.

I've repacked a few and found it pretty easy. I've either bought kits from exhaust manufacturers at shows or just a length of replacement matting from ebay. Just a case of drilling out a few rivet heads and buying a cheap rivet kit from Machine mart etc to reassemble. Every one that I have repacked has been dramatically quieter, first thing to try before a baffle if you know its seen more than 3000 miles. Amazing how much it deteriates over just a few thousand miles.

If I didnt want to do it myself then MHP would be where I would send it for either repacking and/or a suitable baffle.

Millhouse

righto guys.

will order some acoutafil (as it's only a tenner) and give it a bash. It's a beaten up old can but a lot lighter than the standard one. If it doesn't work then a MHP replacement can will be on the cards (unless a billy bargain complete system comes up somewhere)

last question (for now)

do the rivets need to be stainless steel? or will alloy ones do?

Got a rivetter? Can loan you one if not.

Stainless and you'll most likely need a scissor type riviter.

Millhouse

Dom, is yours a scissor type?

Piece of piss, although you do have to be careful not to crush your knuckles when it pops
