Hi All,

So I recently dragged the Mrs up to Alyesbury Ducati to test ride a Ducati 848 Evo Stealth after drooling at it for quite some time. Ended up walking out with a deposit down for a Brand Spanking new ZX6r 2013 636. (green blood)

I pick up the bike on Saturday and my question is. would you part with an extra £1K for ABS? got it on 0% finance over 3 years so it will only work out to be something like an extra 30 quid a month. has any body had any experience with ABS on bikes? Its going to be purely a road bike riden on sunny days.

Personally I wouldn't, I would have paid the £350 extra for the Triple but the waiting list was too long, £1000 is over the odds as far as I am concerned. As to how good, very nowadays apparently but I've never ridden a bike with it fitted.

No, especially the Honda system which fails all the time.

Not worth it.
Significantly faster than you.....

Thanks for the insight...

Im guessing that this is also going to add to the depreciation factor too? you're not going to get an extra £1k on the bike second hand just because it has ABS?

Didn't get it with mine, couldn't justify the cost.

Also some of the 09-12 zx6 parts fit, i.e the rear seat cowl, only available in green or white for the 13 model but available in black for the older one is an almost exact match. Used the one I had in the shed from my 09 bike on mine :)

What colour did you go for Steve?

Also intrigued about the Exhausts. Same for Slip on/Full Systems?

The fastest colour Green :)

A lot of the manufacturers list the same exhaust as for the 09-12.

I have fitted a scorpion RP-1. Not cheap but looks and sounds great.

Also the tail tidys also fit.

I also went for green. Can you honestly go wrong with that combination  ;)

'Zorst looks nice! seems to be my biggest dilema right now. like the look of the M4 GP mount or Race fit similar to yours above. I've got plenty of time to decide, I've not even picked the bike up yet!

Nope for me too, I commute through winter and havent seen the need for Abs just good forward planning

had ABS on the zzr1400, never got on with it, it kicked in too early,I know could brake in a shorter distance without it
I am sure there must be better systems out there tho
happy to go back to standard brakes on the blade

I didn't bother with it on my new Daytona, principally because they had non-ABS models in the shop that they were prepared to give me a bit of a discount on, whereas there was less flexibility with an ABS model that would have had to be brought in to order.

Never had it on any bike before so don't miss it!

Seems Pretty unanimous. Convinced enough to just stick with my order. It'd be different if you'd all turned around and said otherwise. Read that the latest edition of the hyabusa will also have ABS in order to compete with the zzr1400. Manufacturers obviously believe there is a market out there
