for next week
on one of these monsters
(http://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/301717/images/superduke-1.jpg)
wish me luck! :moto:
Mate has current one. Apparently this one has some issues with fluids spilling out at certain lean angle and a few others.
Looks like fun though.
Stu
ill make sure to lean it over good and proper on the test ride
Have fun :-)
Enjoy! One of its wee brothers is on my shopping list.
Looks the mutts and I'm sure it is a fantastic machine.
Like!
Did like the look of the black one at the nec:-)
You should have had it on a test run last week. ;)
Ooh. Lucky bugger, they sound amazeballs!!!
KTMs rule.
Ruggedly handsome....hefty price tag...having test ridden the S1000r 160bhp is wasted on a naked...I'm guessing the KTM will be the same with the 180 odds a standard...benefits may be the low down torque of the twin will transfer well to road riding...quality looking bit of kit all said.

Someone at work has bought one - the bike actually looks better in the flesh. I'm tempted to be honest............
I would love one but couldn't justify that kind of money on a toy.
Girlfriend's dad picked up a 690 duke r today and has one of those on order to go with it
finally got my test ride yesterday

was a very nice bike, brakes are incredible, handles great too
needs to be in sports mode though with TC turned off otherwise far to gutless
also far to quiet with std can
been while since i rode a v twin, so was a massive change from riding the blade, although sure i would get used to it
first nekid bike i have tried, lack of fairing was very noticeable and would certainly slow me down, just not sure i want to be slowed down yet though :moto:
main issue was local dealer they didn't have any orange bikes and might have been december
so would have to go further afield to find one
Sounds like your heart is not in a nekkid yet Komp.
Blade replacement search will go on, although I know you are not in a huge rush to change.
i quite liked the riding position, but wasnt as bowled over as i hoped i would be
got a test ride on this tomorrow for a little comparison

cant afford the 1199 so cant see point of even going on a test ride
Gorgeous bike!
Mugello pit exit if I'm not mistaken :moto:
Rc8r?? One of the best looking sport bike available IMO.

I had a look at them last year
but wasnt won over by some of the details and build quality, all very plastic looking
and not a fan of the front fairing, too long and flat for my liking, my blade looks better IMO

Sweet.
great choice ive not ridden one but ive done a 200 mile stint on its big brother so I can imagine
Dude!
I love the look of that bike.
Bloody good work...
Awesome bit of kit...............enjoy
Sweet.
I'm still not sold on the swingarm though. Looks very similar to the orignal 675's.
Awesome! :moto:
Will it be Aberdeen bound in July?
Looks awesome...swingarm is not a drama...no worse or better looking than the single sided one. Enjoy.
One day I will buy a new bike from a dealers and everything.
Enjoy.

tbh i do prefer the single swing arm, but couldn't justify paying 4k more to get a bike that had one
from what i hear about the torque setting on the 1199 rear wheel, the 899 one should at least save me a shit load of hassle

about 9 days if it was four weeks on the 20 May.....
Looked at this again today...and the S1000rr...Beemers not for me...899 is lovely...but felt tiny.
spoke to dealer last weds, told me about 2 weeks still, so hopefully next week
was a bit vague for my liking, but I am an impatient bugger
but have been promised the reg this week

its so loud and pretty
although not entirelly happy with the brakes, so will be taking back to dealers today
feels like air in the system as having to pump the lever to get it to bite how i would expect
hopefully just in need of a bleed
Woop woop!!
(Apart from the brakes)
Gorgeous. Is the Black fender standard...brakes should be lethal from the off...pdi should pick up on this.
If there anything like the 1199 the brakes are overkill so if your having to pump it don't sound right , got any plans mod wise komp?
brakes all sorted
gave them a call, told me to head straight over, so i did
was just air in the lines, much better now
surprised it wasn't picked up on tbh as was quite obvious
Lush mate.

You would have thought out of all the things they do on the PDI the brakes would have been the most important.
Bike, lovely
Fence, seen better.
Enjoy yourself K

Agreed. :moto:
But surely it is the wrong colour? Wrong engine? or he should have bought the R version or Superleggera?
Who are you and what have you done with Moz?
It's a yes from me.
I assume the fence collapsed as a result of the bike's beauty?..... it's almost staggering back in awe.

;)
Much as your new bike may be #1 and is I agree unspeakably lovely, it is unsettling that a handbag also makes into the top ten.
i agree
tbh I didn't get past #2
I dread to think what is in the rest of the top 100

I don't see any carbon.......... ffs its a ducati it deserves carbon!
Cracking looking bike you've got yourself there. :afro: :moto: :moto:
must admit not having the best new bike experience I've ever had
bike itself is sound, *touch wood
but been chasing the dealer for the last couple of weeks as not received any tax disc or v5 yet or datatag paperwork
finally got a call last night to advise that the registration number they gave me was incorrect and they need to give me a new one!
need to pop down there today to get a new plate fitted, obviously had to call around and get reg changed with everywhere else it was registered
not sure where the error occurred or how occurred, and dealer has offered to cover any costs getting it switched
lucky didn't get flagged on ANPR systems in the last month!
should have set off a few more speed cameras while in holland ;)
its a shame when you buy new you expect the whole process to be simple and problem free. :undecided:

So, what's the verdict on the 899 Panigale so far, Kieran?
Do I have to get one?
love it
mainly for the noise it makes
done over 2040 miles on it in just over 6 weeks
and its not missed a beat
yes you should get one :moto:

Would you?

why would you even think that's a good idea!
The early pani's are supposed to be very hot due to a lack of heatshield on the exhaust where it runs under the seat. Fuelling is better on newer models too apparently.

1199 then? as no 899 til 2013
dont really know the value of your bike so hard to say from a monetary value if would be a good deal
1199 is supposed to be quite hard on the road, due to sussy setup. combined with power and usual sports bike position
but looks good :afro:
i would swap without question, but i dont like the 1190 at all, so easy for me to say :P
Quoteyes you should get one

Ducati Glasgow are selling their Demo....eeeeeeek
yup 99% sure the original issue was the dealer's fuck up
but once i got the 2nd registration plate was issued, was definately the DVLA dragging their heels
I thought you had decided it was a NO? ;)

*disclaimer: this is a total and utter lie, its a frickin awesome bike
You're not helping...
Have both Alzo.
Triumph for comfort and cruising.
Panigirly for faster awesomeness
I couldn't justify having two bikes...I hardly go out these days...that's the only reason I would consider a Panigale that at most a few hours blast is all I do these days...that said I'm chewing over the idea of riding to Mugello next year...so the R would be the perfect machine....or an Explorer.
So, if you can't buy a bright red Ducati the day before you turn 40, what the hell can you do?:
Just a pity about all this rain today... yesterday would have been perfect!
I am forty soon. Do I need to buy an 899 too?
Stunning bike...enjoy.
QuoteI am forty soon. Do I need to buy an 899 too?
Na, each to their own, but I've fancied having a Ducati 'one day' ever since the days of the 916 and I thought now would be as good a time as any, given the significant birthday and the good press about the 899!
You'd probably find it underwhelming after the crazy-powerful kit you've owned over the years, but I suspect it will be plenty powerful for me.
Did 50 miles in pissing rain on the motorway bringing it home, so haven't exactly had a chance to get to grips with it yet! Seems easy to ride and stable.
It's not brand new - couple of thousand on the clock - so it's nicely run-in already.
QuoteStunning bike...enjoy.
Cheers dude: once the seed was sown it was inevitable really!
It's plenty quick...the first Ducati you need to ride like a 600...thrives on revs...but don't be fooled...the speedo climbs quickly...handles beautifully...sound immense...and bike porn to look at...there's not a bad angle on the bike...

I would place handling and composure well above all out power, especially on the road.
Sounds like the perfect bike.
Enjoy!
You ride an 899 Panigale...not the other way around...I'd say it's perfect for the roads...and 145bhp isn't weak.
Lovely bike, enjoy :afro:
Tucola - Manage to make use of this weekends good weather to get some miles in, if so how was it???
Yup, was out on Saturday morning, but only had a couple of hours so basically put a tank of gas through it - 130 miles. Sunday, it totally tipped it down near me so glad I wasn't out then.
It's great.
Really easy to ride.
Wide bars and front-endish feel, so really chuckable into roundabouts. Reminded me a bit of the Buell I used to have, in that respect.
Powerful, but not crazy powerful, so was soon comfortable with it.
Feels a bit more solid and stable than a 600.
Loud, even on the standard cans, which, together with the looks, draws a bit more attention than I'm used to - got a few thumbs-ups from people!

I never found the 1199 the monster they say it is....but the 899 engine feels smoother and spins up quicker...plenty power for the roads.
