Title: ATTENTION GEEKS. Raspberry pi's here :)
Post by: m6rk on September 26, 2013, 10:45:28 AM
Due to a slight fuckup on my part I have some spare raspberry pi's for sale.

I am selling two complete starter kits and some extra goodies.

The kit consists of:

Raspberry Pi Model B RRP £23.33
16GB Samsung certified SD card preinstalled with a OS ready to go RRP £12.49
4 Port USB Hub for power (which doesn't backfeed power so works perfectly as a power source for the Pi) RRP £8.15
Funky Red Flat USB Cable from the Hub RRP £2.49
PiBorg - Ultra bright LED Add on Board RRP £4.99

Total price new would cost £51.45 + Vat = £61.74

Selling for £45 delivered

16x2 LCD Pi Plate Kit (basic solder kit to piggyback a big 16x2 lcd display onto the front of the pi with programmable buttons etc)
RRP £16.66

Yours for £10 delivered

2x PiBorg - Ultra bright LED Add on Board RRP £4.99

Both £6.50 delivered

Mark,

Excuse the no-doubt stupid question, but what else would I need (monitor, mouse and keyboard I assume) to get this thing up and running and my 12 year old started on learning/programming/creating me an in-car datalogging PC ( one day far into the future  )?

Martin.

Yep all you need is a usb keyboard (and mouse if you want to use the gui)

It has an hdmi port so you can plug it straight into the tv. If you wanted to use a monitor you can get a hdmi -> dvi adapter for pennies on ebay..

Martin.

I use a wireless keyboard mouse touchpad like the middle one in the top row of this picture

Also useful if you want a cheap HD streaming device for your front room. I have a Pi running RaspBMC, streaming full HD video onto the TV, music, pictures etc and it supports DTS audio decoding out of the box.

Have you tried OpenElec?  I prefer it as it boots and runs quicker than Raspbmc.

I did try it but I couldn't see any way of mapping shares? Maybe I didn't give it a good enough go but I couldn't find any option to map a share to my PC where all my media is stored.

EDIT - Sorry for the hijack Mark!

Missed the reply, sorry Mark.

I'll take the 2nd starter kit please if it is still available. If you are prepared to bundle it in for another fiver, I will take the 16x2 LCD Pi Plate Kit too. No idea what it is, but I absolutely must need one

PM me a Paypal addy or similar. Happy to gift it of course.

If anyone has any good starter books/websites to get my son and I up to speed on these things, please shout. I am clued up enough to add hardware to PCs, and some VB programming, but that is the limit of my knowledge.

Martin.
