wow!

we've all (most?) exceeded the speed limit but that's a hell of a price to pay

not gonna get into the blame game will just feel sad a life taken so young

TBH its why I have changed my road bike to an old Africa Twin and the ZX7R will be turned into a track bike

Getting older (50 in 6 days) with a wife and young family I'm happier pootling around at 60-70 and will save the high speeds for Cadwell Park

Ride safe everyone

Bikes For Sale / Triumph Street Triple 'R' 2009
April 23, 2014, 08:19:31 PM
Being sold by a good friend

Beautiful Matt Orange Triumph Street Triple 'R' 2009
'09 Plates with 13,580 miles on the clock.
Rare "R" version
675cc  (power 115)
Superb condition
Six speed manual gears
Electric start

MOT to July 2014
Tax to August 2014

FSH
Customised bar end mirrors
Datatool alarm/immobilizer

£4300 ovno

Incredibly fast machine, well balanced, light – handles great even when filtering through traffic.  Unfortunately I don't use this enough to justify keeping it. It has been kept in a garage.  A few very minor stone marks on it.

Viewing highly recommended.

Location: Bedford

Tel: 07545 438937 and ask for Meesh

tbh I find them a right pain on a long trip when filling up
much prefer a tail pack which has the same capacity but loads less hassle

still got mine in the garage 'cos they're a keeper although I've flogged the Dymags and the Ohlins. Gonna put a ZX10R swinger and a ZX14 front end on her. Haven't decided which wheels yet. Will be just for the occasional hoon round Cadwell

Wanted / Re: wanted: assorted old sockets

 as someone with an old imperial lathe of 1947 vintage and shaper from 1964 the thought of all those lovely imperial sockets becoming a bloody coffee table makes me weep !

I use power links (ethernet over the power system) for stuff out of the wifi range of the Virgin doohickey

funnily enough just been reading about the premature engine wear due to the poor design of the air filter housing over on the ABR forum (Adventure Bike Riders) where lads who do serious miles on these types of bike hang out when they're not going round the world

Non-Bike help questions / Re: Wall mounting leathers
November 26, 2013, 07:38:27 PM
given the rigidity of race leathers I would suggest a flat plate screwed to the wall with two small poles sticking out, one to go under each arm pit, they shouldn't move or fall off

plate thing could be wood or nicely shaped aluminium done in CNC

but that's just the home engineer in me thinking this

This year I have turned into a big puff
Just ordered Tucano muffs.

If you're warm you can concentrate on the road and the ride rather than how cold you're feeling
Hence you're much more likely to get home safely
;)
Good call on the muffs I say, you can never have too much muff

Bike Talk / Re: call yourself a biker??

1 - there are people who have done more on 1 bike than most "bikers"
e.g. Ted Simon spent 4 years in the 70's going round the world on a Triumph Tiger, Bernard Smith and his blind companion Cathy who went round the world doing 25,000 miles in the process
Dragging yer uber sports bike out just on sunny Sundays kind of looks pathetic in comparison
IMHO

50% right  ;) spray bottle top is indeed an oil level tool! I did the head bearings using a metalworking vice and a hammer.

What do I win?

The other home made tool was 3 layers of cardboard tube sliced down the side so I can clip them around the fork leg and use them as a seal driver

For the same job I used some Wickes downpipe and wall clamp which was an amazing fork seal driver. I have since bought the official Kawasaki service tool but my bodged version works just as well and better than braying bloody hell out any seal with a screwdriver!
