Love it. It's an M1 with the most subtle but legal lights they could get away with.

Can't wait to see it in the flesh. Decision close to made.
Significantly faster than you.....

Makes the bug eyed  panzer look pretty by comparison

Tail tidy, new exhaust, paint the bottom of the fairing(below the engine only) black and that would be sweet.  :moto: :moto:

I like the look of the front if im honest, would have to see it in person or atleast front on

whoopee

I heard the news - rushed to look at pics of it - then came straight on here to check my eyes/sanity.

Thankfully my mind has been eased by you lot.

IT'S FOUL! - I honestly couldn't own that.
Wouldn't want to let a mate keep one in my garage for fear of it scaring my lovely Gixer!

front on , looks like a squished panigale

That's about the kindest comment I could level at it.
Maybe if the afterthought, Maplins spotlights could be easily removed it might look better.
Sad, sad fall from such an iconic looking bike as the R1.

I don't care if its got cranks hewn from pure unobtantium & the power to weight of a carbon-fibre Antonov,....they're all crazy good on the road - for me it's got to make me want to go into the garage to look at it without even needing to ride it.

First thought was that it's horrendous but I think once it's around for a bit and you see a few that'll soften.

What I do wonder is whether the looks will age fantastically badly or fantastically well - it'll be one of those I'm fairly sure!

Reminds me of the same reactions the 2008 Fireblade got.

It's a gorgeous bike. The frame, swingarms & wheels are works of art. The can is actually as unobtrusive as I've seen on an emissions strangled road bike, the tank is identical to the M1s as is the nose profile. The only thing letting it down are the lights but they had to go somewhere.

Compared to the road H2 Yamaha have got it spot on.

You lot have no idea ;-)

Well even the fact that it divides opinion is a backwards step for the R1 in my opinion.
I don't ever remember hearing anyone say they didnt like the looks of the first few R1's.

Then again, Yamaha obviously didnt have access to skip-load of BMW R1150GS fog lamps when they designed the first few models.
I imagine it will make a superb track bike - & track use will have the added advantage that most people will replace the fairings with cheap race stuff, instantly rendering it 3 times better looking.

Looks like its down to Honda to rescue some Japanese dignity in the looks department with their all new bike.
