Hello and welcome iow

Yep myself the other half are on here and live in Binstead. You may or may not have seen us about. Between us we have a black and white NC30, an HM plant Blade and a slate grey/black R6 that I crashed last week

What's the 12 Route you talk of? We've not been about much either on here or on the roads of late due to purchase of new house and other half away with work a lot.

We don't have children but that sounds like a fun thing for the little ones to do

it's a run we used to do some 12 year's ago start in newport out to Yarmouth  just before cut across to middle road down to freshwater bay then milli to Niton back over Bleak Down . i live in Merstone so i start from here at home when I go out then back here I just done it tonight works out about 36 miles in all. it is state of the roads that hold you back now I really wish I had kept my old bike .
Hope you and R6 are OK got lot's of spare engine part's for R6 here I did engine change for some one a while ago

The Pit bikes I do for kid's on a Sunday afternoon my son is 12 now so he does most of it he is here 50% of the week (soon to be full time I hope) we have a small track here and hired a digger to dig pit out so something for all to do new to it or riding long time kid's like it they have no where else to ride bikes now. So they ride them me and a mate spend the day in workshop fixing them lol

Kath600

Ah yes I know that route. I haven't been out for 'fun' for a long time now  :undecided: our bikes are our only transport so it's just the Tescos run at the mo etc  :embarrassed:

Merstone has some stunning houses but just lacking a little shop and a pub  we cycle through there a fair bit on the old track to Newport from Sandown.

R6 is having to go through insurance now sadly but thank you for the offer.

iow

If you use the track on a Sunday afternoon just Newport side of old staion you can look across at the track there is a mobile home in the field the kid's ride there most Sunday's that is the back of my place .
Sorry to hear R6 is that bad hope they can fix it . My ZXR is a toy most of the time as have car as well but try to go out most evenings for the run on it . Put's me off a bit where I can not get the thing set up any softer do wish I had kept the ZXR 900 now .

iow

it's not just the one front as well to hard
I have been trying to talk to owner's before me to see if it has been up rated for track use as i know the bike spent a lot of it's life on the track.
Setting's i have now is every thing wound off apart from some rebound I know sounds silly it is perfect in corners i hate the straight's .I know island roads are bad but i do have to take pain killer's before I go out and when I get back not kidding i spend a lot of time stood on peg's with my backside just off the seat.
So no point changing thing's till I know what i have to start with if that makes sense ? One of the owner's said he had springs changed got them from a company called Race tech but don't know if they still in there ??? I am 12 stone 10 and when I sit on the bike it does not move LOL next step for me is change fork oil I have Silkoline in there at mo am going to try ATF as that worked on the 900 .i have a set of R6 front forks here might try there springs if they fit.
Thing of it is it was fine on the mainland bringing the bike back from Linkenshire till i got on the island will get there in the end baby steps is the way to go

Yep I'm on the Island (formally Wozzar) before the site crashed. I had a ZX10 and that was shocking over here so can't really see that wold help a bundle. The roads are shit here thats for sure. I don't ride on the roads much now since my crash,,,,,,especially the early morning runs with mate, just got bonkers. Good luck sorting it out.

Used to live in Merstone myself in the White house right on the road, you will know which one I mean.

Have you considered getting the cartridges re done with a custom shim stack for your weight ?

iow

Dom the white house is oppersite me Tony lives there i been here 23 year's now so not sure what one you mean ? I am in 1 of 4 but have the land out the back and large workshop always had bikes and boat's.

I used to do the run's 12 year's ago when had the R1 and before that the ZX9 R B4 model should have kept that ZXR best bike I had 14 k in a year never missed a beat.
I don't do morning's now lol so go out about 6.30 ish in evenings
As for this ZXR it is just so far out for the island you got to ride it like a crosser standing on peg's most of time think it is going to have to go .Not the bikes fault it is island roads the bike was made for the track as far as I can tell with lap counter and stop watch all built in . i have every thing wound right off and it is still way to hard for over here no give in it at all I have not been able to find out what was done apart from it was changed front and back .
going to keep it for this year now as season almost over but look for some thing else next year i think best place for this bike is back on mainland as to start playing with springs and shocks going to cost and don't know what my starting point is it could have anything in it ???? may be if i put on 4 or 5 stone it might change . Shame as the engine is some thing else it ride's like my 900 did with an extra 4k or revs just never stop's pulling even after change light comes on but it is also as happy down low rev's it don't like going slow as soon get's hot as i found out on the ride the other night i went on a ride for a lad that died over here first time for me to do it  but 40 miles of 30 to 55 mph the fan was working hard

Dom1

Blimey I would have been 12 when we lived there which makes it a long long time ago.

The lad who died was my best mates nephew - Danny Hayward.

Toney was inthe white house since before I came to live here he has been here a good few year's i think .

Yea was sad thing that is why did the run when asked but was slowest run i have done did feel a bit out of place they where all there nice clean bikes and gear I turned up dead fly's all over front of the bike my jacket not much better and jeans complete with holes in lol

Ash I think it has all ready been done by Race Teck this is the problem I don't know what is in it now .
I have seen a few other 636's over here on the island if i see one while out will try compare the two or get other person to take mine for a ride see what they say ? I can not see them making a ZXR so hard that you can not ajust it for all types of road first time I have had a bike I can not set up it loves corners sure footed no problem laying it down till you run out of tyre
