I've always been told that fuel injection is more efficient. Well my g1 got 180 before hitting reserve.  My b1h with fi got 135.

Why such a massive difference? And I rode it exactly the same way...

Are the tanks the same capacity?

The B1 (the finest 600 ever made) has 37cc's more - they use fuel. The engine is 5%ish bigger.

I don't think there's any comparison here.

What wore the mods to each of the motorcycles?

More efficient means a bigger bang for the fuel used...not necessarily more mpg...that can be achieved by other means...gearing...camshaft timing...and so on.

they were both stock

surely 37 extra cc's doesn't account for the massive range difference?

I get alot more out the f3 than I do the b1 ive had 200 od miles out of the f3 and the b1 ive had I think 150, but I hardly ride eco friendly ive emptied the tank in under 80 more than once on the road

Exactly ??

What about weather conditions, wind, humidty ? and then there's the route, exact same route ? if not then differences in more or less corners, type of corners, type of surface.  Then there's the actual bike making a difference, tyres, drivetrain losses etc


Too many variables to consider.


Fill up, ride, repeat.

At the end of the day none of us ride sportsbikes for the mpg.....

He's right though.  My fuel injected bikes all used noticeably more fuel than carb'd bikes.
Probably something to do with how FI works compared to carbs.  The SP2 drank like a fish (46 miles to reserve at Donington).
