Harleys are fine for anybody who has given up on modern bikes. There's nothing wrong with the custom look - each to their own - but at least buy something decent if you are after something to actually ride. If you want one for the image then fine but for anything else............

One of my closest friends gave up riding bikes and started buying Harleys...........he's had a Deuce, XR1200, Rocker C and a 1800cc top of the range Electra Glide which cost £28k new! What a load of over rated, under powered ill handling pig iron they are - it makes me sad.

Irrespective of what you want - custom, cruiser, roadster, sports bike, adventure bike etc, etc there are so many bikes out there that there is no reason to buy a Harley of any kind unless all you want to do is tell people that you own a Harley...........

and breathe..............

Why? I typed sportster but meant roadster. I've already got a 1200, no way I'd replace it with another with about a million less powers. I like the 883, I really like the 883 Iron.

I don't want it for speed, I've not ridden in 5 years. Speed and 2 wheels scare me now and that's why the 12R is in the shed on stands. I can't buy one anyway but I can dribble as the Harley garage is 5 mins round the corner from me.

Would love to do Jarse's trip. Been showing the missus the photos for when my lottery numbers come up.

Only reason I would have one is that my hips have given up and I can't lift my leg over a proper bike seat.

And I suggest that America is the place for Harley's.

They have been getting a hell of a slating here and now Alzo is away to stick needles in his eyes.

Well having just done nearly 3000 miles in 13 days I'd say the Electra Glide was the ideal tool for the roads over there. I got very caught up on the whole thing with so many other Harley's about. The Explorer seemed so revvy after the big V twin. Ok, so once the cruise control would not hold 75 up hill with a head wind and it took a tight wire and 3 gears lower to resume the cruising speed, but it got there.

Would I buy one, no. Did I enjoy it, hell yes. It's a motorcycle and it does what it says on the tin.

Ride easy y'all.

A massive +1.

I rode one up from Vegas, across the Hoover Dam and up to the Grand Canyon and loved every minute of it. Is it a 'good' bike, no..... is it well made, no.... did I have a load of fun on it because it's two wheels and fits a purpose.... yeah I did....

Sun's out, guns out!
