Is this for commuting or longer trips?

How far is your commute?

I guess you are looking at the old round light Tiger for that money?

Think I have a buyers guide on them if you decide to go that route.

komp

it would only be used 1 or 2 days a week
commute on those days is 120 round trip

yeah thats the old style tiger

You might luck in with an older Adventure close to that money. It would be an older carb'd model but they are considered to be one of the better models.
Significantly faster than you.....

nekid or semi faired?
some of the naked models don't look so bad, but have never really liked semi-faired bikes

I feel exactly the same way.... it's not got the clip ons either so a much nicer bike to ride.

it's up for £1,650 which my mate is selling. Any less than £1500 and I have to pay him the difference so no outrageous bidding!

Let me know if you want any further details.

How about a cb500x? Can get a virtually new one for that money, and spend a little more in getting a rally raid conversion kit.

A real do it all bike.

My commuter bike is a Piaggio XEVO400, is good for sitting at 80 quite comfortably when traffic conditions permit, it has excellent weather protection with the leg cover, plenty of storage and good on fuel as well.  I do use the Adventure around once a week, but TBH it is probably quicker overall to use the scooter.  My daily commute is only 30 miles each way into central London so not intensive motorway / dual carriageway riding without traffic / filtering but when I get a clear run it is nice and stable.
