Anyone had or ridden one? Ive seen a 2010 Biaggi rep with 1500 miles on the clock for £9500. Ohlins forks and shock, Brembo front and rear brakes as standard. It seems a lot of bike for the money, albiet an 8 year old bike. Ive always had inline 4s and never ridden a V4.

Any views or pointers?

Engines are fragile. Lots of valve issues.

Aprilia dealers are generally crap (scooter sales and servicing majority) and parts can be hard to come by.

Get a warranty would be my advice. Post 2015 bikes (I think) much better due to improvements in valves (titanium with better temp dispersion) design.

They are awesome though. Had a launch model Tuono APRC

Cheers MOz. Thats something to consider. Do you know if there was a recall on the valves?

Dave wood would be doing any work to it and reckons he can map it to 200 bhp! Not that i need or am capable of using that

I've test ridden one. They are small (don't know your vitals!) and the engine is awesome BUT the horror stories are horrifying. I'm not sure Id be happy spending that much without warranty.

Is it for sale at DW?? Will you use it for mega mileage or as a toy??

No mate DW aren't selling one but he and DW junior are sorting one that they already have as a track bike for next year. It willl be for the occasional ride out such as Assen next year for Motogp and a few track days

Onyerbike Aylesbury are selling it

Im 6'1 and 16 stone but have owned a road going commuter ZX636 B1 for a few years and managed it ok but wouldn't want anything smaller.

MOzZereLLa

From memory it is B1H size.

As I said, make sure the warranty is rock solid. Are OYB Aprilia dealers?? I don't think they are???

When I bought my Tuono I was at Bzn and the nearest Aprilia main dealer was Hemel / Watford way. That was a joke.

Lack of back up would have me running for the hills.

MOzZereLLa

And 1500 miles in 8 years - that's done a lot of standing. I'd be expecting fresh oil at least every year for that.

They service it at point of sale so should be ok plus it has FSH.

OYB are Aprilia dealers. Im Aylesbury so Hemel/Watford isnt that bad either

When you say lack of back up Alzo, do you mean parts? Or service centres/dealers?

Alzo

Service centre...dealers...and the parts networks...Aprilia themselves have recently admitted their coverage in Britain needs much improvement...the other weak point I believe is the charging system...regular failure with hefty repair bills...as Moz says a decent warranty would be essential.

Hmmmm.....ZX10r might be more value for money then!!!

Of the two it's where I'd place my hard earned...but I am definitely an inline 4 person. 😊

MOzZereLLa

The V4 shits all over an IL4 for character, noise, torque etc.

If the warranty back up is there - I'd go for the Aprilia. It's a lovely bike and you'll have the APRC package which was industry leading when it came out.

I have it on good authority that the bike is an absolute weapon.... but generally Aprilia are a pain in the ass to own. My mate is a regular rider and says the pain is worth it.... but I couldn't do it to myself!

worth doing a bit of research on the mileage. The last Aprilia I had any dealings with used to reset the odometer every time the battery went flat!
