The V4 shits all over an IL4 for character, noise, torque etc.

It really doesn't...one of these mythical made up sayings...in terms of performance there is very little in any of these bikes...so just buy your preference...I rode a 1200 Monster the other week...and if that engine is character then I want characterless...I was sooooo glad to get back on my silky seemless never ending inline 4 engine...it just doesn't get better...and that is fact.

How can you comment Alzo?

You've never owned a sports V4 to my knowledge?

I've owned both and the V4 is better than an IL4 in every way. Nothing to do with absolute power and everything to do with the low down tractability the V4 gains over the IL4. Crossplane aside (which is very similar to the feel of a V) why do all MotoGP bikes use the V config????

There's nothing wrong with an IL4 - a V is just better and provides a different experience.

I'm not attacking you directly, I respect your liking of the Il4 but IMO you are wrong. And that is a fact x x

I've test rode many bikes...I've listened to friends/ owners...I've watched many videos/reviews (some videos lasted longer than your ownership 😂😉)...recently ridden with a buddy who has a Panigale V4S and they aren't all that...not any quicker or character filled or indeed any of the superlatives that people choose to use.
PS: I don't see anything as an attack...just exchanging points of view.😊

Yamaha M1.  ;)

I refer you to my crossplane comment. The firing order simulates a V

I was going to say that...😊

MOzZereLLa

It is. I thought it was a V.

It's the only one though (happy to argue the Yamaha config and the fact they needed to alter the firing order after admitting an IL4 was too peaky).

Anyway - I'd much prefer to own and ride the RSV4.

You could make an IL4 fire all 4 cylinders at once to give it the character of a big single, but it will still be an IL4.

It would have the character of an IL4 exploding and firing bits of hot metal into the riders gentleman's area.  Which is precisely what it would be.

So.....have we all agreed now??

MOzZereLLa

Yes. V4 infinitely better than a peaky IL4.

Buy the RSV4 (test ride both though)......
