Yes...inline 4s are the engine to have
Don't buy a money pit Aprilia...get the Kwak...enjoy. 😊

V4 is pretty much the optimal bike engine configuration.  Perfect primary balance, good packaging, narrow crank, straight inlet tracts.  Only drawback really is exhaust routing and clearance at the front between front cylinders and front wheel.

And heat dissipation...and poor fuel economy...so not THAT optimal for a vehicle with a Rider inches away and limited fuel carrying capacity.

Well cheers for the input lads. Im still undecided as to what to get. The RSV4 like a few have said sounds epic and has a different look compared to most bikes i see on the roads. However, for the £9500 for a 2010 RSV4 i can get a newer ZX10.....16 or 17 plate if i up the budget a few hundred quid so my sensible side is saying ZX10. However theres this little thing saying fcuk it and go Italian and deal with the consequences  :afro: !!!

Standing at the roadside waiting for the Breakdown truck...😣😣😣😉

Talking to the Aprilia guy at the NEC he said the valves issue was caused by people fitting short stubby cans and not running he approved map. It was always exhaust valves that failed. If that bike has the approved Akky on it and has been mapped too it'll be fine.
Significantly faster than you.....

Maddog

Yep its got the official Akky exhaust on it!

MOzZereLLa

See if you can get evidence of remap fitted with can.
Significantly faster than you.....

The man is full of IL4 blinkered shit 😂😉

Fact...ask a Panigale V4s owner...heat off engine unbearable...Ducati accept there is issues...80 miles can empty the tank...his words not mine...so nope...didn't make anything up...😊...V4 engines are not optimal...flawed is a better description.

MOzZereLLa

Fuel economy accurate. The Tuono V4 was hot for having worse economy than rivals but only by a small amount.

Heat - never had any issues. Lots of engine configs on sportsbikes heat your nads.
Significantly faster than you.....

Agree...my 2007 R1 could get hot...but according to the chap I run with and the forum he is in it is beyond acceptable...Ducati have already recalled and added more heat shield...but improvement is not great.
Anyway in truth the comments on this thread were always intended to be "Tongue in cheek"...so one shall bow out gracefully 😊

An Engine that makes more power than rivals uses more fuel and produces more heat?
Say it ain't so!
Only drawback of a V4 is that they are expensive to make.  Inline 4 is motorcycling by Aldi.

I emptied the tank of my SP2 at Donington in less than 50 too. #winning
