I know its a how longs a piece of string question but i thought id ask anyway......roughly how much would a zx10 2004 make if it was sold as parts....im not talking about every nut and bolt but the main parts? Ive looked at parts on the bay but prices vary so much ive not answered my own question

the 04/05 models still have a god following why are you looking at the breaking route? It's normally thought that a bike is worth more in bits than in one piece but you have to factor in the arseing around factor to actually break it, store the bits, advertise the individual bits etc etc.

I brought it as a track bike with V5 so no lights etc and track fairing. I had a small spill at Paddock hill and it needs new fairings, tank and a rad. None of the damage is that bad just cosmetic. I miss having a road bike so thought of the best way to get dollars to get one.

If you've got the space and the time I'd break it and put all the bits up on a reasonable Buy it Now price and the bike should be worth more money. Can you acquire a new V5 for the frame? The engine, gearbox, frame, wheels / tyres, good farings, swingarm, headstock and forks should all move fairly quickly and fetch fairly decent money from what I am led to believe

The bike has a v5 and daytime mot. I used it on the road but felt vulnerable with no lights, indicators mirrors etc

04 zx10r's will break well..

the engines are worth decent cash as the genny's and cranks die on them..
wheels go for sensible money

but it's a lot of hassle breaking stuff down.. it's worth the effort financially though. Even things like selling wheels and discs seperately, and the disc bolts seperately will make you more money..

i broke my old zzr1100, tbh it was already in pieces and gearbox was shagged so was a no brainer
but I made over twice what i paid for it as a complete bike
suspect the same would apply to any bike

+1, time consuming but if you have the space / time and inclination go for it, imho.
