I have ordered some bits and pieces for the B1 including some clipons and renthal grips. The clipons haven't arrived yet but the grips are here so I was gonna fit the grips in advance of Anglesey at Easter weekend. I got some grip glue, my question is whether I will be able to remove the grips and transfer them to the new clipons when they arrive or is the renthal grip glue gonna attach them to the stock bars so well that they can't be removed??

Clean clipons with a spirit to ensure they are clean of grease etc.

Quick spray of brake cleaner into the grip and slide on quickly - you've a few seconds. Then lock wire grip top and bottom.  Job done.  Can be removed easily in the future (intact).

Cheers again mark. Have some finer lock wire on order, the reel I have is about 1.25mm dia so way to heavy to do grips.

Don't see why you cant use what you've got?

I wouldn't bother with the lockwire personally.  I've never had a grip so much as move.

I have tried to use it to hold mountain bike grips on and it wasn't an easy job. With no other experience of lock wiring grips I measured the wire on my mates track bike and worked off that as an ideal diameter. It's ordered now anyhow.

After buying some finer lock wire it arrived today. To I tried a bit out before fitting the grips and the bloody stuff just snaps after literally two twists... Complete junk. It's more like spring steel than lock wire. So I went back to my heavier lock wire and to be fair gobert... It worked perfectly fine on the motorbike grips. It Just didn't suit the mountain bike foam grips.

Buy your lock wire from an aero supplier, it's always top quality and obscenely cheap compared to what the motorcycle industry tries to rape for it.  Still on my original 50m goodridge roll I bought in 2010!  Pm me if you need a supplier ..
