I'm guessing a penalty retest would have massive implications for insurance????

I never knew about the penalty retest - I wonder how many new drivers do???

Is it stressed to them during lessons etc??

In my experience it was stressed a lot. I might have been paying more attention though as I already had 5 on my provisional license so I was on a one strike and out!

she don't even declare her points to her insurer...

Then she might as well not even bother having insurance  :undecided:

It was designed to make new drivers think hard about their speed and driving standards more than otherwise they may have.
License revoked will be the same as a ban to Insurers...as for not declaring points that is seen as a breach of trust/honesty in which the policy is based upon...so the company may withdraw cover if the non declaration came to light...which is usually when someone makes a claim.

I had my licence revoked years ago for the same reason.

I retook my tests and bought a car.

Your licence comes back clean when you retake your test, I took that to mean a clean slate. So when they asked when I passed my test I gave them the date I passed the second time.

They ask if you have points, or have been banned.

The points were wiped and I wasn't "banned", it was revoked so I didn't declare it any of it. I never considered the implications of not declaring it until now! I am well past needing to declare it so doesn't matter now.

If its going to void her insurance then she really should tell her insurer when she gets back on the road.

My old man once said to me the value of a driving licence is worth way more than the cost of getting your licence so look after it..

It's a pain in the arse, but as people always say if you can't do the time.....don't do the crime.

Good luck to her on her eventual retest and sale of her R6
