Sensible answer - don't touch it with a barge pole until he has the V5.  Also does he have service books etc?

Second question - has the barrel got a screwdriver sticking out of it.  If so, walk away.

Thirdly - you KNOW the risk you're taking if you do.  It's your choice and yours alone to accept that, but it's a silly risk to take really.

HPI check?

Ive got it now hpi is clear , ktm database is clear , I think it may have a new ignition though as both keys apear to be brand new..

So it hasn't got an MOT, it hasn't been run for ages, it needs a new tyre, it has a new ignition barrel, the mileage is different from what you were told, the lad bought it without thinking he needs a licence, its cheaper than all others of a similar age.

Seems legit.

Not roadworthy, even if it runs - "check!"
Possibility that it won't run - "check!"
Serious indications of suspect history - "check!"
Wrong colour - "check!"
VIN and engine numbers applied in matching crayon...?

Whatever you do, don't you dare post a thread in (insert timeframe here) asking what to do as the po po are at your door asking about you handling stolen goods and why you bought a bike without a V5.
