while my heat-shield is being replaced

quite enjoyed it actually, makes some lovely pops and bangs
although i miss my quickshifter something rotten
didnt realise how lazy i had become when changing gear

Never had a quickshifter and probably best I dont fit one to the Street and then butcher the Scrambler box

What's up with the heatshield?

started noticing it was a bit loose when i got back from aberdeen last august
it appears the heat (it was a very warm trip believe it or not) got to the rubber spacers and washers that held it in place, they went all hard and brittle.
started to clang and rattle quite badly when heating up and cooling down
its taken this long for it to be replaced under warranty after my local ducati dealer closed down mid claim
i have just been running bike with heat wrap on the exhaust, this was fine over winter but far too hot for summer

I liked my Streetfighter S but it needed a few minor mods to make it a perfect bike.

Think I took a K8 Gixer 1000 for it that I subsequently sold privately for about a grand profit.

Hmm, mine seems to be alright at the moment, save for a bit of foil that seemed to have worked its way out from somewhere underneath it and was hanging down... fingers crossed...

The whole heatshield has the feeling of a bit of an afterthought/bodge, put in after the bike had already been essentially designed but they realised that those pipes, although elegant and curvy, were totally cooking people's balls...

i am aware of a few other people that have had the problem, but hasn't effected everyone, so might be lucky
i had same issue with excess foil, it moves around a bit when the glue holding it in place melts slightly, not a major issue
it could be worse, could have the larger heat shield they are now putting on the 1299, its h00ge!
i didn't realise how hot it was without it until i rode back last night after picking it up, i am glad its back despite it looking worse
