Buy lots and lots and lots of Cotton wool....put the bike inside the van....not on the roof rack...then stuff the lots and lots and lots of cotton wool around the bike....drive really quickly that way the cotton wool will not move.

Flip it over on its bars and seat remember like the old bmx days!

Should do it

I know what ratchet straps are ive just never used them the bike is 100% being put back on the road and I don't want to damage it by doing things wrong

Get someone to hold the bike upright in the back of the van and fill the entire loadspace with expanding foam. That'll work.
Significantly faster than you.....

Serious answer.
Put it in the van with the front wheel against the bulk head. Put it in gear, you don't have to but I do. Put a ratchet strap from the left side down to the floor on the left in front of the strap point and one from the right side down to the floor on the right in front of the strap point. Sub frame is a good place to use as this is stronger than the pillion footrest hangars. Tighten the left side first, then the right. No need to go mental on the tightness, but taught is good. I would only bother with 2 straps but obviously you can stick as many as you like on. Might be an idea to use some old tshirts under the straps to protect any paint from damage.

Paddock stand helps too

I always throw a zip tie over the front brake to help stop it sliding back, but not too tight.

Handlebar straps are a good idea:

  oh Lord Danoir

PS do not use paddock stands or your bike may fall over.
