Crash on Gravel

So sadly on my way home earlier I managed to highside the blade after the rear wheel stepped out on the mother of all gravel piles mid corner.

I'm alright apart from a  bruised knee btw.

Am I dreaming if I think I should try and claim this back through the council? I have someone who stopped to help who said they would help if I did. I also have pictures and videos of the corner in question.

From where the wheel washed out to where I landed is only about 10 metres as I really wasn't going that fast.

Yea was very lucky it was a proper ow shit the backs gone. Crap it's gripped again. And me and bike fired into the scenery.

I landed flat on my back destroying a 1500 quid work laptop. But had full kit, integral back protection and a full length separate back protector so got up and walked away.

Main injury is from clobbering the bars with my knee as it highsided me :-/

Ask Neil he watched, I was busy.

From what he tells me the rear let go, I got spat out of the seat, it gripped again and threw me in to the wrong side of the road.

Unconscious, broken wrist, severely winded, everything hurt for a couple of weeks. Was wearing all the kit too.

Frame, forks and engine seem okay. But it landed on it roof so the rest is a mess

Crashed on gravel a couple of years ago. It was right down the middle of the road on a nasty bend. The inside of the corner had a water filled pot hole, the outside was cut across by cars driving in the opposite direction, so the ONLY way you could go was through the middle of the gravel.

Contacted the local authority, then contacted my solicitor who told me I was wasting my time, so I never pursued it. Notably, a couple of weeks later and the corner had been resurfaced.

General road conditions and the lottery that is possibly every bend could be a deathtrap to us really grips my shit.

It's people like farmers around here who happily drop the whole world of shit onto the roads and do fuck all about it. I'm surprised more aren't seriously hurt as a consequence

seems the only way councils work is retroactively, always takes someone to get hurt before they do anything about poor roads

Don't think I'll waste Mr breath then :-/. Limping a lot but otherwise okay. Time to speak to the insurance folks and take a closer look at the bike.

Sorry to hear that it always fucks me off when someone goes down due to someone else's negligence , luckily both you and the bike can be fixed (I'd imagine)
