So the blade was picked up by the insurance company this morning and although the bikes not in terrible nick based on some of the stuff that's definitely RIP. I have no doubt it's a write off...

So while I wait for the the insurance pay out to come though I need wheels before the traffic or the train based misery kills me.

As this is likely a 6 months stop gap bike and will be 95% used for a 90 mile round trip commute. I'm considering something different to my normal sports bike choices any suggestions?

Current things is...

Triumph Tiger
Yamaha TDM
Vfr800

But other opinions? Top whack is 2.5k

If you can get a 1050 Tiger in your budget it would have to be that. If you can't get a 1050 I'd look elsewhere.
Significantly faster than you.....

I never saw a tiger 1050 in a good state and mileage below 4.5k - a few about in the 35-40k mileage in budget though.
Cracking bike if you can get one.
Can probably pick up the tiger 955 in budget though.

I reckon the TDM could be the bargain winner in that list.  Yamaha were well ahead of the market with that bike back in 1991.  I've always liked them and I imagine you'll get a newer one in better condition for that money than the other two.

Funny you should say a Tiger 1050, been looking at those. Will really need 4k to get one worth having!

TDM is also on the list.

At 6ft 3 both those make a lot of sense for me!

B1h hahahahahah

Really? In what way Lewis?

I loved mine, took me a while to get used to the size of it and adjust my riding to suit. Stupidly stupidly fast (mine was a first gen A1P so not restricted), comfortable, great handling for such a big bike provided you have the right profile rear tyre fitted, great tank range, great brakes etc if well maintained.
