Good points well made Dan.

Why do you think the MV won't appreciate over some years?

I think it will, in time. Mine's a bit leggy at 20K but very clean. Over time I think the miles will become less important but it won't ever be huge money.

If you're looking to invest in something, it needs to be iconic and be kept low mileage to attract buyers in the future.

I was chatting to a client recently who deals in classic cars, he advised me to use my money to buy a classic car, and borrow the rest to buy the best I can find as borrowing is cheap.......... had I applied that theory to my Esprit, I would have spent say 25K on a mint S1 rather than 15K on a very good S2..... and whilst my S2 is probably worth 25K now, S1's are selling for 60K upwards..... so his logic is sound.

I'd be looking for a 888 now if I was looking to invest.

Also..... don't blow them up..... I bought my Sport 350 for 20K, sold it without an engine for 10K...... it's now worth as much as 50 to 70K

Bimota SB6?

One popped up on my Facebook this morning and I liked it lots.

Look for the game changers and the icons..... Kawasaki Z's, early GSXR's, RGV's RC30's, RC45's, OW01's, 888's, 916's, early blades and early R1's.

I think 999's will appreciate. Dicko's got a mint 2000 miler he paid £3,500 for and a project slab side he gave £750 for....... I've also got a BSA C11 I took off a wall in a bar in Manchester........

Great feedback, thanks all.

That 916 looks like the very thing, my budget is flexible enough. 999 also appeals.

I'm also thinking about taking a punt on an MSX125 Honda as a side interest.

I've plenty of time to research and shop about.

Nope, but they are funky, were not made for too long and have a cult following.  Loads of accessories available too.

Have you?

Same principle as with art I guess..... get something you like and will enjoy, even if it's just garage bling

My Buell is unusual enough to have investment potential I suppose.... and I love it.

All well and good but my Rolf Harris collection is worth nothing now.

They have just revised the model looks bit funkier now , yes did a test ride for Honda over 2 days when they first came out , I hated it stock I did take it on a dual carriage way , it feels like it's going to tip over forward the riding position feels like the front wheel is between your legs seriously don't buy one without riding one first Honda main dealers have them on demo , I've seen them as stunt bikes , cafe racers , sports bikes there's a million mods for them

The inner workings of your mind are of slight concern to me Dan....

Carbon, I'd have little intention of riding the MSX, I own a couple of proper bikes.  I just think it will go FS-1E/C90 way over the long term.

Carbon_ZX6R

It might do ya never know or it may be a bike they produce for the next 20 years...
