How much towards touring rather than sports bike is it? Interested and obviously more rider friendly than my R6 but is it much comfy?  Thoughts please especially if anyone has rideen /owned one.

It was aimed at the VFR800 sports tourer types and supposed to do the job just as well.
I'd be wary to be honest.  Those engines never had a good reputation for reliability and I doubt 13 years will have made that any better.  Owners of new Aprilias can find spares support 'challenging' so God knows what old bikes are like.

As a cheap commuting hack it's worth a punt. As a distance Tourer it could be disastrous.

I owned an Aprillia for 2 years. Never spent so much money on preventive maintenance.  :(

a guy in my club has one. It's a 2000 I think with about 76000 miles on it. He's had it from new and obviously looked after it but just goes to show any bike can be reliable if looked after correctly.

More likely he has overcome the issues and persevered...and possibly a sprinkling of luck.
