Dropped my Buell wheels off to be powder coated this morning. The bloke quoted me £40 each which i thought was expensive as I've only ever paid £20 ish.

Presumably this is the going rate nowadays and I'm just out of touch?

You're a tightwad expecting the working man to work for peanuts, or summat....

Alzo

£40 per wheel seems a perfectly reasonable price.

Well, reassured, I shall part with my hard earned (or barely deserved in my case) with a smile on my face.
