Cafe Racer

Since I started following the BikeShedMCC on twitter, I have started wondering whether or not there might be something to this neo-Cafe Racer custom scene after all.

Need to get some mechanical eptitude from somewhere.

And a bunch of money.

And a big shed.

Still not feeling bikes sans-front mudguard, mind you. Just ain't right.

Frantically trying to remember the name of the Suzuki 650 single custom bike that would have been the doner for that sweet looking cafe racer.

I've picked up an Aprilia scooter as a first project for a custom job. It is going to take me some time to do, but want to get a 250cc (ish) 2 stroke single or twin to put in it

Gonna take some time, but just this minute connected with a contract welder who comes into my works

Donor bike is a Suzuki Savage, I believe...

The cafe racer is based on a US kit. I think the donor bike is a lot more common over there.

Looks like they have a distributor for the kits in France.

Hmmm, wondering if this might be do-able at some point...

I know

possibly RM/KX or an RD LC/RG Slingshot...money dependednt . Enough space under thepanels, but will probaly have to stretch the wheelbase a bit.

Not sure a horse would fit in that frame without some serious adjustment.

In London you rarely get the chance to ride on good roads. It's all about city riding and so I don't need a sports bike any more. So I thought I'd like something that has some urban cool. I bought myself a '96 CB750 a few months ago as the basis for a custom job. It was very cheap so if I fuck it up, I can scrap it.

Planning to do it as a brat-style bike (basically a cafe racer but with a flat seat so you can take a pillion). I went along to the Bike Shed event in Shoreditch yesterday for some inspiration/ideas. Mainly I was trying to figure out what type of rear mudguard to go for. Now I'm ready to order some bits and get the hack saw out.

I'd seen that event was on and was keen to go, but don't think I'm going to be able to get away with it without the wife killing me...

CB750 idea sounds exciting.

Been thinking along these kinds of lines myself lately...
