suzuki drz400sm - 2500 ish for a reasonable looking one
KTM exc450 - similar price

but ALL requre lots of servicing!!

This is the first reasonable alternative to the Hornet I have found (road legal, good nick, not silly money etc)

I do wonder whether it would be a better bike to own for a Sunday blast. Sure as hell no good for touring and long trips!!

Mk2 SV650 would get my vote.

The ER6 Ray hired for the Memorial Rideout was a cracking bike too, as is DaveH's.

Could not believe how swift off the mark they were and I was on a 1050.

I'm guessing the ER6 would cost more than a like for like SV ?
