Bike Talk / What to get?
April 06, 2021, 12:57:57 PM
So I've lasted about 6 months without a bike, the sun comes out and I'm back to hankering after another bike  :moto:

Don't want to spend loads as it'll be sat in the garage for a lot of the time. But what to buy?

What's a good second hand bike? Naked preferably, or something comfy without it being massive (size wise), don't want a sports bike, doesn't have to be a 1000cc, but needs to be lots of fun

your bike was limited to the speed limit everywhere?

I'll be ordering my new bike in Sept 2021

Just musing the other day. But back when I first joined this site. Almost everyone was on a sports bike and wearing full leathers. There was a time I wouldn't been seen dead on something that wasn't a 'Z' something bike or wear anything other than leathers. I'd be horrified on a 600 or wearing textiles

Now I see less sports and more adventure or naked,.   Is this because I'm older, and like my comfort. Or is it because the adventure and naked bikes have become trendier (just saying that makes me feel old)

I paid less than 10k for my zx10, back in 2005. But now you'd not see change from 20k for a 1000cc bike - a 1000cv bike would cost less than your average family car, not now tho.

Or is it that we're all older, families, kids, not so much disposable cash and we don't see it. Although I have to say, when I visit places like Matlock, the power ranger brigade, on the 1000cc bikes are few and far between.

Bike Talk / How do i get the rear seat hump off?
March 21, 2016, 11:34:51 AM
Ok, yes i know it comes off with the key, but i'm turning the key and nothing is happening. I sounds like the cable is moving, but it's not releasing. How do i get if off without knackering the seat hump or fairing? The battery is flat so i need to put a trickle charger on, so if there is a way of getting the front seat off i can live without the rear seat hump coming off.

It's a 2005 ZX10r.

The front brakes on my 10 have always been shit, far too much travel. Tried bleeding etc and nothing seems to make it better.

Any ideas?

55 plate FORD MONDEO GHIA 2.0 TDI 130 bhp

MOT Till FEBRUARY 2014
SORN at the end of July

168000 miles

TOW BAR

Air con
Climate control
Heated front screen
Cruise control
Bluetooth phone connection
6 CD player
Multi function steering wheel (well the stereo etc can be accessed via the steering column)
Alloys
Cloth interior with no rips
Electric windows
All the usual GHIA extras

Considering the mileage this car is in excellent condition inside an outside, it's got a cracked fog light but all the bits n bobs work. The bodywork and interior is good. Some of the wheels need a little TLC but none are terrible.

The car has been serviced regularly by our local garage, tyres are good.

Now for the bad bits
It's starts fine when it's cold but will start on 3 cylinders when hot for about 30 seconds then be fine, but will always start! I've been led to believe it may need a new injector

When the Air Con is on the car temp creeps up, especially in the high temps we've been having, we think the fan isn't cutting in, as soon as the air con is off it goes back to normal.

The left hand bottom ball joint is noisy.
