Unfortunately I'm going to have to rain off this one.

Its Ems birthday weekend, and there's plans afoot to be elsewhere. Gonna suck missing this though.

For those who know her on FB and the like, please keep quiet, its a surprise.

Alright guys and girls,

Well, judging how you guys seemed very amenable to me being there on 4 wheels again last weekend, I think it would be rude not to, especially with it being the 10 year.

It's Ems birthday on the 30th too, you'll be acceptable company for a night out on the piss.

So, I shall be there with bells on, and if I've sold the 5eb by then, maybe a supercharger as well.....

Hi Rubio,

Had this exact issue - albeit with only one fork - on the other half's J1.

The comp adjusters seize up, and they have to be drilled out to replace - although it can be done with replacement kit from K-tech, etc.

I managed to free it up by using some penetrating fluid around the offending screw, leaving it for a while (a couple of days), then gradually turning the screw further in and out until it freed off - it took me about a week or so all in.

Looking good Ray, been watching this thread. Love things like this, bit of tinkering and the like.

With regards to the muppet moment, I did the same last year with the MV...... changing the oil, you have to flip the sidestand up to get at the sump bolt.

20 minutes later I had forgotten it wasnt down when I took it off the paddock stand.... I had the foresight to take the fairings off though.

Classic insurance depends on the insurance company in question - of those I've spoken to so far some are 15 years, some 20.

I have the MV and NC30 on a Future Classics policy with Carol Nash - just been quoted 230 ish for the both of them.

Dont think its from a later Zx6, the cush drive on g model zx6's onwards are 4 individual rubbers.

F model ones are linked, but have protrusions on the tops of them, so don't think its from one of them.

GPZ or a ZZr maybe? If you scroll down this page they have a pic of a new one for the original model that looks like it matches that.

Exactly the reason I bought the NC30 last year. Lusted after one as a kid, bought one, sold it a couple of years later and regretted doing so since. Couldn't bring myself to sell it when looking at track bikes late on last year.

Its nice having a blast on one of them new fangled sthou's and the like, but I wouldn't swap either of mine for one.

Only thing that I'd like to add to my garage is an RS250 or NSR250, specifically a late MC28. Wanted them both as a kid, but never did.

If you're really after an RRSP, get yourself on 400greybike.com if you're not already, they come up on there every now and then.

Hi GM,

I've got an 08/09 rear in the back of my J model zx6, and I know the 05/06 shock is a direct swap to the 01 as well - the 01 and 08 shocks are the same length.

Bags better than the original - although it was 10 years old and had nearly 30k on it :)

I know you can get electronic signal converters for them, but it would probably be more trouble/cost than just getting hold of a set of C model clocks :)

swich,

This might be of use to you - was something I was looking to do update the clocks on my J model zx6 - I know the info is to mount it to a j model, but the pinouts on the connector for the B and C model gauges are the same - from reading it, I think the speedo drive would be well out, but that would be your only issue.

If you read to the end of the first post, you will see what I mean.

I've been riding for 14 years now, love track days, and with a bit of luck will be going racing in the next couple of years, but I wouldn't even consider giving up road riding. I would be starting racing next year, but cant bear the thought of selling either of my road bikes.

However, I think its as much about who you ride with rather than anything else. I found my interest waning until the last couple of years, but I've been fortunate to find a great bunch of guys up here that I enjoy riding with. Its usually brisk, but things can get quick when conditions suit. Time and place and all that.

Sportsbikes are no use on public roads...so many good Naked/Adventure bikes out there and will provide miles more fun.

I don't totally agree with this, but don't think for a second you need the latest and greatest. I have an F4 and NC30, the MV can be a pain at low speeds, but the NC is perfectly civilized, and its 21 years old. Neither have issues keeping up with modern kit - its only when speeds get very naughty that the 400 has an issue. I guarantee I have as much fun on either of mine as anyone on a naked..... maybe you're just getting old Alzo :)

At this moment in time I guess I've found what I want in a roadbike - I'm sure that will change as I do, but I also cant see a time when I dont have a race rep in the garage.

Saying that, with either of them I certainly know about it for the next couple of days after the scot runs :)

Different m/c definitely resolved the issue. 700 miles in 3 days and the problem didnt reappear.

Now need to figure out whats actually happened to the old m/c, but in a happy coincidence, one upgrade to the NC30 is a 5/8 m/c instead of the standard 14mm to add a bit of feel.

Which is whats on the zx6 by standard :)
