Go greenlaning and you can feel as heroic as Millhouse...

If you round Essex way can come for a ride.

Can you recommend any lanes in Essex?  I know someone who wants to try a few!

Theres a good circular route round Stansted/Newport way that we use regularly, if they are interested I can organise a ride. We use this website for Essex greenlining, its very active for rides etc. www.greenlaners.boards.net

Thanks!  They're completely new to riding, let alone greenlaning so I'm not sure they'll want to go out with others just yet, but I'll try to convince them!

Thanks for the link!

If there new even more reason to ride with others! Riding the lanes on your won is a bad move. If you come off on your own and get knocked out or injured you could be stuck on some of the lanes for days before someone would find you. Also if you break down its a nightmare, I speak from experience from having to push my bike off a lane for about 2 miles, in the freezing cold, soaked through. Not fun!

Join up on the site, we run all experience rides with no pressure on new riders. All a good bunch of lads.

Im off next Wednesday to Cambodia for two weeks off road riding. Cant wait!

I'm looking at WR250s for the purposes of green laning - what are your opinions as a good first laner?

*edit* wow, autocorrect really did a number on me there!

Great bike if you can find one that's been looked after or a new ish one. The engine has more than enough grunt for green lanes and it will do 60mph easily on the road. My mate reckons he did over 80 on his! I got one last year and apart from the knackered bearings in the swing arm and linkage,  a fork service, new piston and rings, new valves and a cylinder bore and recoat... It's been great.
