There is certain irony that Sportsbike have circa 190 bhp with expensive Tech to stop it killing the rider...so from that  there is a case for less is more power wise...I rode with a group with S1000rr's...and my 133bhp Speed Triple held its own up to the point where your liberty would be in question.

and the Street wasn't half doing bad with 'just' 105BHP either  ;) and I enjoyed every minute of it which is what biking is all about  :azn:
It did go rather well. :-)

It was switched off. You can do that on KTMs.

That's what happens when you have shit loads of torque, a flappy right wrist in first gear and the TC turned off!!

Part of me got some satisfaction after the riders Billy Big-Bollocks 'check me out' take-off....

I love these new Superdukes but I still think you'd need your bumps feeling for spunking £14k on one.

On another note it does depress me that we've now got a generation of bike on the road that needs electronics to stop the thing turning itself inside out.

I know 14k's a lot but jap thous were over £9k rrp 17 years ago...........

Tiiimmmaaayyyy

I struggle to believe any bike is worth that much, no matter how much electronic guff is on it.

I'll pick mine up in 12 months time for £10k

You're right, but that was down to rampant profiteering by the importers and the grey market put a lid on it.  Just seems an insane amount of money, and an incredible hike in price compared to the previous model.

Don't like new bike prices, don't get me wrong Deedub, but the price of the new SDR, compared to the old one is a bargain when you consider the fact its an entire new motobike.  Their electronics package is the best available and their lauding new technology that other manufacturers aren't (look at the new stability ABS on the 2014 1190 Adventure).  i'd suggest the SDR is a bargain compared to a new Blade which is almost as much money for a bike thats been the same for the last 7 years give or take the odd style change and a bottom of the range ABS fitment.

I think you need to accept that, over time, all stuff gets more expensive and stop being such a miserable old bastard. ;)

I do like what KTM do with all their bikes.  They've got more corporate bottle than all the Jap factories added together.

I do think there is a business plan at work though.  They've spent a few years establishing credibility with the SD, RC8, etc and now they are moving their brand into the Premium category where all the cash is for a small manufacturer.  There is no way that bike costs nearly as half as much again to build as the old one.  If it does, they should fire all of their Manufacturing Engineers!  And I know exchange rate has an input too.
